He Jiankun was born in 1945. He is the Dean of the Institute of Low Carbon Economy, Tsinghua University and professor and doctoral supervisor of the Department of Management Science and Engineering, School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University. His primary research areas are energy system engineering and strategies and policies coping with global climate change. As the principal responsible person, he has undertaken a number of National Science and Technology Plan subjects and major international cooperation projects. He was the technical director of major projects for the National Science and Technology Support Plan during the 11th Five-Year Plan and the 12th Five-Year Plan period and the chief scientist of National Science and Technology Project 973. He has obtained one second prize and one third prize of National Award for Science and Technology Progress, three first prizes of Science and Technology Progress of Ministry of Education, three second prizes and three third prizes of science and technology progress at ministerial and provincial level. He is also the Deputy Director of China’s Advisory Committee on Climate, Vice President of China Energy Research Society, Vice President of Chinese Society for Sustainable Development, Vice President of China Industrial Energy Conservation and Clean Production Association, President of Beijing Energy Association and director of Beijing’s Advisory Committee on Climate Change. He has published more than 200 academic papers.
