Since 2002, the Institute for Contemporary China Studies has offered 23 courses to different sources of students on campus. Over the years, Contemporary China and Its Development taught by Prof. Hu Angang and Associate Prof. Yan Yilong, among other courses, has become a core cultural competency course for students in Tsinghua University. In 2017, several courses including Development Theory and Practice taught by Associate Prof. Gao Yuning have won four important awards in the 10th Young Teachers Teaching Skills Contest of Universities in Beijing such as the first prize in Group A of Literature and History , which was held by Beijing Municipal Education Committee. Preliminary estimate shows that more than 3,000 students of different majors in Tsinghua University have attended courses offered by the faculty from ICCS since 2000.
ICCS is not only focused on practical research about contemporary China, policies and development strategy planning, but also committed to presenting its intelligence products through lectures, forums, courses and academic workshops to bring positive influence of the research findings to more decision-makers and industry leaders, and therefore boost China’s development. Preliminary estimate shows that, in 2010 alone, ICCS’s faculty gave more than 300 lectures and keynote speeches to over 50,000 listeners.
