Hao Jiming is the Professor and Dean of the Institute of Environmental Science and Engineering, Tsinghua University; he is also a member of Chinese Academy of Engineering. His main research area is air pollution control. He now serves as the Director of Tsinghua-Toyota Research Center; Vice-Director General of Asia-Pacific Regional Center for Hazardous Waste Management, Training and Technology Transfer; Dean of the Joint Design and Research Institute of Environmental Engineering, established by Tsinghua University and Chinese State Environmental Protection Administration; Vice-Director General of China’s National Center for Hazardous Waste Management, Training and Technology Transfer.

He graduated from Tsinghua University with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering in 1970; he graduated from Tsinghua University with a master degree in Environmental Engineering in 1981; and he graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a doctor degree in Environmental Engineering in 1984.
